The Barbara and William B. Thalhimer, Jr. Religious School is a major component of the Family Connection. There are programs tailored for students from preschool age through 10th grade and their families. The school has a curriculum of both formal and informal education. Classroom learning is no longer just sitting behind a desk, listening to a lecture or reading a textbook. It is experiencing Judaism through a classroom project, acting out a play, seeing movies or taking field trips. Special activities with other community groups help to foster students’ and parents’ connections to each other, their heritage and their community. Jewish learning at Beth Ahabah is more than what happens in the classroom and the synagogue. It is an effort to build a lasting foundation for every member of the family to live a meaningful Jewish life.
Schedule: The Barbara and William B. Thalhimer, Jr. Religious School for grades K-7 meets during the school year from September through mid-May on Sunday mornings, from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. Our eighth through tenth graders meet collectively on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Joel House.
Religious School programs are open to all members of Congregation Beth Ahabah. If you are interested in enrolling your child please fill out our online registration form, or review and print the paper registration form, and return it to the Temple office. (Please note that tuition must either accompany your registration form with a check or be paid prior to our receipt of the form by credit card via the Contribute page.)
