Youth and Teen Programs
Youth and teen years are a special focus at Beth Ahabah. New in the Fall of 2016, the Temple will be introducing a number of opportunities for our youth (grades 2-5) and middle schoolers (grades 6-7) to engage in social events on Sunday afternoons following religious school. The Temple also offers multiple ways for teens to stay engaged. We combine an exciting program of core classes and electives for students in 8th, 9th and 10th grades with informal education, social activities and social-action events. Congregation Beth Ahabah’s youth group, JeRAFTY, gives 8th-12th grade students the opportunity to explore and have fun with other Jewish teens at the Temple and all across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Every year Beth Ahabah’s 10th grade class goes away for a weekend to explore being Jewish and connecting with their classmates. This year the class will be going to L’Taken in Washington, DC the weekend of January 27th.
The weekend gives 8th-10th graders an opportunity to laugh, talk and explore. Each year there is a theme helping students to develop perspective and language that is relevant to their lives in regards to issues of faith and Jewish identity.
JeRAFTY and NFTY MAR
Our youth group is for 8th-12th grade students. JeRAFTY has activities and hangouts throughout the year. Click here to visit JeRAFTY’s Facebook Page. Also, there are five NFTY MAR regional weekends where students travel to other cities or camps in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Students are picked up and dropped off here in Richmond, and travel on a bus with other Jewish teens.
Kick-Off and End of Year Activities
Activities are open to all 8th-12th grade students. These social programs commonly include a trip to G-Force Go-Carting, Paintball and Lasertag, a trip to Kings Dominion and other social programs.
